The 21-year-old Gloucestershire seamer stepped up to the first grade, and starred with the ball against Gold Coast Dolphins last week.

The seamer was at his frugal best conceding just 18 runs in a probing 14 over spell, while picking up two wickets as Gold Coast were dismissed for 224.

McCarter is in Australia as part of a Cricket Ireland seam bowling initative, with promising quick bowlers combining playing grade cricket whilst being coached by former Test ace and current Australian Test quick bowling coach Craig McDermott.

The former Killyclooney and Fox Lodge player will be joined shortly by two further quick bowling prospects, one of which is widely expected to be North West Warriors and Bready seamer Craig Young.
