Waringstown bid to bounce back in Ulster Cup final against Bready

Waringstown captain Lee Nelson has called on his senior players “to put their hands up” as the villagers bid to bounce back from last Friday’s unfortunate Challenge Cup final defeat.

Nelson’s team have an immediate chance to make amends as they face Bready in Sunday’s Ulster cup final at Strabane.

Waringstown are down to the bare bones, with professional Shaheen Khan having returned home, Greg Thompson is still on honeymoon and there are injury concerns about Phil Eaglestone and Kyle McCallan.

Nelson said: “We have to pull together, we are struggling in terms of numbers and have had some desperate bad luck. We are without three men from the cup final team, four in total without Greg, so the senior players have got to make the difference. We won the Irish Cup in 2011 without a professional so it can be done.”
