Carrick batted first and skipper Jack Burton led from the front with a fine innings of 48, which contained four boundaries and two sixes.

At 33 for 1 off eight overs, Dundrum looked set to challenge the Carrick total, but the introduction of change bowlers, Adam Crook and Jack Buchanan-Rolleston changed all that.

In the space of 4 overs, the pair picked up 7 wickets for 16 runs. Crook in particular proved to be Carrick’s match winner, taking 5 wickets in 7 balls includinfg a hat trick to end the game as contest and reduce Dundrom to 49 for 8.

A run out and a wicket for Michael Brady saw them all out for 50 in the 13th over to give Carrick a comfortable victory.

A delighted Club President Roger Bell said: “This is the third final in a row that this group of players have contested a league final, having lost to Muckamore in the same final last year, and to Instonians in the Under 13 League final the year before.

“They also lost narrowly to eventual winners Cregagh in the semi final of this year’s Graham Cup, so this is an overdue and well deserved win for these very talented young players.”
