Defeat for Coleraine Under-13's

A WELL fought match in Ballymoney saw Coleraine Community team dropping three points to Beckett's, going down 6-2.

The game started well for the visitors when Callum Greer scored in the opening five minutes of the match, but the lead was short lived as the home side went on to score four before the break. A few strong words from the Coleraine camp at half time saw their team compete for the ball all over the pitch in the second half.

It looked like it was going to be a goalless half before William McKenndy broke the deadlock by rounding the advancing keeper to slot the ball into the back of the net. Beckett’s responded with two more goals to win the game 6-2.

Even though Coleraine lost they were pleased by whole teams performance as most of them were playing out of their usual positions. Thanks boys for turning out on such a cold morning. Man of match: The whole team.

U9’s

The Under-9's had to absorb some pressure in their league match against Coleraine Colts U10's on Saturday. The U10's kept the pressure on, missing their chances and were punished by two goals from Andy Whiteside. Young Richard Purcell kept the score at 2-0 with an outstanding display of goal keeping. An entertaining game on a very cold Saturday morning. Well done lads!

Man of the Match: Andy Whiteside.

U10’s

The Academy U10’s got back to their winning ways on Saturday after a good performance against the U9 Colts. They played well and went ahead through Ben White when he slipped the ball past the ‘keeper. Scott Weir put them further ahead before Ben White grabbed his second of the day.

Kori Doherty then got his chance to put his name on the score sheet when the U10’s were awarded a penalty after a handball and he stuck the ball into the top corner from the spot. Scott Weir got another goal before Jack Forgrave scored a brilliant goal from twenty yards.

Louis McAlary then scored to give the U10’s a 7-0 lead. Oscar Moffat-Clarke did well as the stand-in goalie for injured Joshua Dunn and made some excellent saves. The Under-9’s deservedly pulled a goal back before the end.

Man of the Match: Kori Doherty.

The Committee of Coleraine FC Academy would like to express their sympathies to U12 coach Billy Ellis and his family on their recent bereavement.
