Desi does his conditioning work at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre and trains at Gerry’s Gym in Coleraine, where he is coached by Gerry McLaughlin.

“I am delighted to win this title again and looking forward to competing in Estonia and the Czech Republic,” said Dessie who competes in the 74Kg class.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their help in getting me to another title, it is greatly appreciated.”

Dessie holds all the Classic and Equipped Northern Ireland records and several British and Commonwealth records.

He has also refereed at a number of high profile events including the World Masters Bench Press Championships.

There’s no doubt there will be more success to come.
