Division one will have extra sides

THIS season's All-County League division one format will now include two extra teams.

This will bring the number of clubs competing in the section up to 12.

This development has arisen due to the introduction of two new teams into the ACL, namely Killeavey II and Cullyhanna II.

Last season both Killeavey and Mullaghbawn were relegated from the premier division but the restructuring of the leagues will see now see both South Armagh clubs retain their divisional status.

Maghery and Whitecross, promoted from division two, will complete the 12.

The knock on effect from all of this will save all relegated teams throughout the divisions from the demotion suffered at the end of 2009, but will have no effect on teams promoted, St. Peter’s and ire g among these.

The changes have the effect of evening out all four divisions to each include 12 teams, 48 senior sides in all.
