Doran's monthly medal delight thanks to scoring joy around Silverwood course

It was a beautiful day for golf at Silverwood golf club on Saturday and with the golf course looking and playing well, there were some very good scores returned.

It was the monthly medal competition and the winner with a net 66 was our club match and handicap convenor Jim Doran. Jim had a front nine score of 38 with six par’s at the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 9th hole’s and three bogeys and a back nine of 39 with one birdie at the 18th hole which won him the competition.

He had six pars at the 10th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th hole’s, one single bogey at the 11th hole, and one double bogey at the 14th hole to with on a better back nine.

In second place was Matthew Madden with another net 66 and a great round of one under gross 7. He had a front nine of 33 with three birdie’s at the 2nd, 4th and 7th holes, one bogey at the 6th hole, and five pars. Along with a back nine of 38 that had two birdie’s at the 11th and 18th holes, three bogey’s at the 10th 15th and 17th holes, and four pars at his remaining hole’s.

Third place went to Shaun Stevenson with a net 68, Shaun had a front nine score of 41 with five pars at the 1 hole’s, two single bogey’s at the 3 bogey’s. His back nine of 46 was compiled with one birdie at the 12th hole,two pars at the 10th and 13th hole’s, one double bogey at the 16th hole, and five single bogey’s at his remaining hole’s.

The gross prize was picked up by Fintan Mc Areavey with a one over par 73. He had a front nine of 37 with one birdie at the 1st hole, five pars at the 3rd 4th, 5th, 7th and 9th hole’s, and three bogey’s to go with his back nine of 36 which contained two birdie’s at the 12th and 18th hole’s, only one bogey at the 11th hole, and six pars to add another gross prize to growing collection.

Fourth place went to Henry Noble with a net 68. Henry had a front nine of 38 that included one birdie at the 9th hole, five pars at the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 8th hole’s, one double bogey at the 5th hole, and two bogey’s. His back nine of 42 had five more pars at the 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th hole’s, one double bogey at the 11th hole and three single bogey’s.

Fifth place went to Gavin Mc Cabrey with a net 69, he had a front nine of 37 with two birdie’s at the 4th and 7th hole’s, two double bogey’s at the 2nd and 5th hole’s, and five pars, his back nine of 42 had four pars at the 12th 13th 15th and 18th hole’s and five single bogey’s.

The senior prize was collected by Eamon Mc Conaghy win a net 70.
