CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
On Saturday, Area 2 darts held their annual Champion of Champions competition. League winners and runners-up earn the right to participate, Ballymenas’ representatives where therefore Drifters and The Coach (formerly The Diamond).
However, due to a late withdrawal from Larne, Ballymena were awarded an extra place with Greenhills taking this chance.
All 3 Ballymena sides made light work of the quarter finals, Drifters beating Ballyearl 6-3, Greenhills overcoming Thatch 6-3 and The Coach defeating 5 Corners 8-1. This resulted in Drifters facing Blues Club in the semi finals were they came out with a 5-1. The second semi-final saw an all Ballymena game with Greenhills defeated by The Coach 5-2.
As a result of these games, for the second time in 3 years, Drifters would battle with The Coach for the Champion of Champions crown.
However, unlike the last time they met in this competition, Drifters dug deep and regained the trophy they won last season with a resounding 5-1 win.
League action resumes this Friday night, November 6, with the following games in Division Two: Wanderers v Patton’s; Bowling Club v Buffs; Ballee I v Cosy Corner; Michelin v Ballee II; Fountain Bar v Village Inn.
