Eglinton Darts round-up

All league teams must have monies returned owed to league at the latest this meeting including our end of season draw when tickets are handed out this week.

This draw will be held on the same night as this meeting and tickets are non refundable any not sold will be deduted from end of season winnings.

All teams are requested to bring numbers and money for end of season dinner dance on Friday, May 11 in the Longfield Inn,

Eglinton so the cost per head will be advertised soon in local papers and facebook under the Darts Eglinton page.

While the four person team of Corner Bar A including Paul Brown, Gerard Curley, Joe Donnelly and Danny O’Neill proved the strongest over the recent two weeks of our 4 person cup sponsored by Dolans Barbers in Greysteel.

The team from Corner Bar A Dungiven proved worthy winners after some difficult games over the two weeks had the extra sharpness at doubles and real heavy scoring which brought them home as deserved champions.

The standard of darts over the two weeks in the five different venues were nothing short of superb with only some scoresheets returned it did not do justice to the quality of darts players in the Eglinton & District Darts League.

The scoring in the Rising Sun Bar, Greysteel last Thursday night was television standard and also the previous week and some players did not get the chance to shine due to matches ending early as it was a race to 10 points so the format was exciting.

Some scoresheets were recorded which included from week one in the Longfield Inn a phenomenal 68 ton plus scores when the eventual champions ended the Rising Sun A teams chance of winning this cup for the third year in a row and in the Drummond Hotel there was a super 4 maximum 180s scored by Padraig O’Reilly playing for John Ts A against Rising Sun B.

The league would like to congratulate the five players selected to play for Corner Bar A who proved the best over the fortnights darts.

Credit also is due to the beaten finalists in Calablanca A who certainly tested the eventual winners and also to the beaten semi-finalists in Eglinton CC B and John Ts A who fought hard as well.

The league would like to thank our main sponsor Dolan King the proprietor of Dolans Barbers Greysteel who sponsored this respected cup for the second year in a row and the 19 teams which entered the initial draw and all five venues and their staff over the two weeks of darts.
