Ferguson helps Toon
LONDONDERRY youngster Shane Ferguson helped Premiership new boys Newcastle United book their place in the third round of the Carling Cup after an entertaining 3-2 victory, at Accrington Stanley, last night (Wednesday).
The 19-year-old, played the entire cup tie as the Toon Army boss Chris Hughton fielded an entirely different XI from the side that hammered Aston Villa 6-0 on Sunday.
The Eglinton teenager, who impressed in Steve Beaglehole's Northern Ireland Elite Milk Cup side this summer, is likely to be involved with Nigel Worthington's senior squad sooner rather than later.
