While their Ballymena & Provincial Intermediate League form has been massively disappointing, Anthony McCartney’s side has looked a different outfit in knockout competitions.

Having progressed through two rounds of the Irish Cup, Carniny now turn their attentions to the IFA Intermediate CUp this Saturday, when they travel to Amateur League outfit.

Back on domestic matters, Carniny’s second string were involved in a high-scoring Junior Division Two game, as they lost by the odd goal in nine against Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

Result: Rathcoole FC 1, Newtowne 2.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

Cookstown Olympic 2, Chimney Corner Reserves 1: Ryan Devlin scored on the 15th minute putting Olympic in front and this score remained until Ciaran Faith equalised for the Corner from the penalty spot on the 47th minute.

Olympic regained the lead after Jon O’Neil scored on the 55th minute and went onto collect all three points.

Killymoon Rangers Reserves 0, Ballyclare Comrades Reserves 6; Castle Star 2, Mallusk Athletic 2.

JUNIOR DIVISION TWO

Carniny Amateurs II 4, Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ 5: Craig Heggarty put Ballynure in front on the 16th minute then Craig Greene equalised for Carniny on the 18th minute.

Ballynure then went two goals clear with goals scored by Matthew McClurg and Ross McFall on the 20th and 30th minutes. Dean Surgenor pulled a goal back for Carniny on the 55th minute but goals from Josh McIlroy and Ross McFall on the 60th and 65th minutes saw Ballynure three goals clear.

Carniny never gave up getting two more goals scored by Chimbulev and Dean Surgenor on the 70th and 80th minute but could not force an equaliser.

Other results: Ballyclare North End 3, Cookstown RBL 2; Ballysillan Swifts 3, Remo FC 3.

JUNIOR DIVISION THREE

Wakehurst Strollers 6, 1st Carrickfergus OB 0: Strollers continued their winning streak with their sixth win from six played and this game was a personal triumph for Jon Alexander who scored four goals.

Matthew Logan put the Strollers ahead on the 5th minute then two goals from Alexander on the 7th and 17th minutes saw the Strollers take a strong hold on the game.

Matthew Logan made it 4-0 on the 54th minute before Jon Alexander scored another brace of goals on the 66th and 86th minutes.

Other results: Red Star 4, Clough Rangers Athletic 1; Newington YC II 2, Rathcoole FC Reserves 2.

JUNIOR DIVISION FOUR

Results: Monkstown FC 1, Krag ALbion 0; Mallusk Athletic Reserves 2, Forthriver FC 2; Glengormley United 1, 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys 3.
