Bannsiders all set for Council date

REPRESENTATIVES of Coleraine Football Club will make a presentation to Council tonight (Tuesday) as they bid to push their application for a new 3G pitch at The Showgrounds over the line.

Bannsiders’ representatives will be in attendance at the Leisure and Environment meeting urging Coleraine Borough Council to throw their weight behind the Club’s development plans including the installation of a 3G pitch at the Showgrounds venue.

The club’s Community Liaison Officer and Academy Chairman Andy Alcorn will be putting forward the club’s case for council support.

“We are aware that many of the residents of the Coleraine Borough and beyond have been very complimentary and supportive of the initiatives that we have put in place through our Youth and Community programmes,” said Andy.

“The numbers that attend and participate weekly have been quite staggering. We also are very aware that this is only the tip of the iceberg so to speak. We know, having taken our first steps into community partnership working, that there are many more community, health, educational and social responsibilities that we, as a football club, can facilitate and attract people to.

“We have been granted an opportunity to speak to them and we will be asking them, as our elected representatives, to lobby all our current funding applications.”

Fans and the wider community are invited to come along to Coleraine Council Offices on the Portstewart Road on Tuesday evening. Please be there for 6.00pm wearing your club colours to show in a dignified manner the attending Councillors the support there is for a 3G facility at The Showgrounds.
