Bell rings out for a win as Gers U13s see off Lisdrum

Banbridge Rangers Under 13s followed up their impressive 11-0 opening day win with a 3-1 victory over Lisdrum at Cheney Park last Friday evening.

It was the home side who earned the first clear opportunity from the spot. Joshua Bell was brought down in the box and dusted himself down to take the penalty but it went just over.

This didn’t faze the young winger as he went on to assist one of the Rangers goals and score the other two.

In the 14th minute, Bell nipped in front of his marker and played a weighted ball into the channel for striker Neil Hawthorne to finished well and make it three goals in his first two games for the club.

Within four minutes Bell doubled Rangers’ advantage when he reacted quickest after a corner was allowed to drop and drilled low through a host of bodies.

The third goal arrived nine minutes into the second half as a corner was only partially cleared with Bell able to strike high into the top corner.

The floodgates could have opened only for Lisdrum grabbing a quick reply which saw a low cross take a deflection off a Rangers defender and creep in at the front post.

Eddie Tucker marshalled his defence well and made several crucial blocks and clearances to earn the man of the match award.
