Sheringham’s appearance has been secured through his friend, coleraine man Steven Lomas who has been working alongside Victor Hunter’s son, Barry, now a scout at Manchester City, to bring some top names over for the friendly.

Among those taking part are ex Newcastle, Man City and Northern Ireland goalkeeper, Tommy Wright, former Southampton, Ipswich and NI midfielder Jim Magilton, Distillery goal machine Glenn Ferguson and the former Celtic and West Ham star Alan McKnight.

Victor’s brother Allan and members of the Coleraine team who won the Irish Cup in 1965 are also expected to take part as well as Bannside legends such as Felix Healy, Raymond McCoy, Kevin Mahon, Tony O’Doherty and Liam Beckett

Organiser Tommy Doherty is also asking for any former players who played along with Victor to come along on the night.

He managed at all levels at the club and in recent years ran the Colts side.

After the match a special reception will be held at the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine. Admission to the game is £5.
