Blustery conditions for the U10’s

The conditions which greeted the Lisburn Distillery U-10 teams as they returned to action in the IFA SSG centre were horrible with rain and a biting wind blowing across the pitch.

However, the boys didn’t let the weather affect them in the first game against North Belfast, putting in an excellent display.

The match was only a few minutes old when the Whites got the first goal, Jake Donaghy making a surging run from midfield before giving the keeper no chance with a confident finish. Ross White then picked his spot and slid the ball into the bottom corner.

Jonathan McCullough then linked up with Ross to leave Conall Cunningham a simple tap in at the back post.

North Belfast then rallied and it took a superb save down low at his near post from Whites keeper Xander Power to keep them from getting a well deserved goal.

The third period saw the Whites take their foot off the pedal a little and allow North Belfast to pull a couple of goals back but perhaps it was just reward for the boys in Red who kept going to the end in difficult conditions.

Game two saw the U-10s Whites play local rivals Lisburn Utd. The Wee Whites started off strongly and it was no surprise to see them score first and what a goal it was Matthew Moore slamming home a free kick off the underside of the bar.

Lisburn Utd started playing some good football and Bradley White made some timely tackles before they deservedly pulled a goal back. The scoring was completed when Ben Gilliland strode out of defence and finished well.

St. Malachys was the venue for the U-9s game with Aquinas, with plenty of goalscorers in white, Jake Hull, Dee Dee Rafferty, Charlie Davidson and Jackson Browne.
