Anthony McCartney’s side shook off their miserable Ballymena & Provincial Intermediate League form to defeat the Intermediate League side thanks to a late Jonny Cummings goal.

It takes the Ballymena outfit into the third round, potentially just two more victories away from reaching the fifth round where the Danske Bank Premiership clubs enter the competition.

Carniny Amateurs 1, Oxford United Stars 0: This was a top performance from the young Carniny team against a more experienced outfit who started the game as favourites to win.

Carniny kept it tight at the back with David Hanna and Craig Deane marshalling the defence giving nothing away.

Half-time saw the team still level with no goals scored and in the second half Carniny kept their formation and conceding few chances.

Time was then beginning to run down when 16 year old Jonny Cummings, who has been a super signing by Carniny, scored a superb goal on the 80th minute a lead Carniny they held until the final whistle.
