Carniny Youth sides on right side of high-scoring games

The Under 17s kicked off the weekend on Friday evening in the NIBFA Subway National League, continuing their great start with a 5-1 away win over Coleraine Academy courtesy of a Peter Rankin hat trick and a brace from Bailie Young.

On Saturday the U19s also got off to a great start, emerging 6-2 winners over Lurgan Celtic in the NIFL Youth League helped on their way with a hatrick from Tyrone Balmer. The U13s had a pleasing 5-2 win in the South Belfast League against St Mary’s, with the same scoreline the winning margin for the U11s as they defeated Warrenpoint Town in Lisburn League.

The Under 15s had a long trip to Enniskillen Rangers in the National League but their trip home was made easier after a 3-0 away win in Fermanagh.

The U14s lost out to an impressive Linfield side in the National League with the two U12 teams losing out to Carryduff and Northend in the Lisburn Youth league respectively. The Seniors Amateurs side bowed out of the Junior Cup losing to Loughgall Res 2-3.

UNDER-11

Carniny Youth 5, Warrenpoint Town 2: Carniny suffered a blow in the opening minute as they conceded an own goal.

Carniny applied pressure in search of an equaliser and levelled when Moody’s long ball forward was converted by Kennedy and the same player reacted quickly to score his second just before the break.

In the second half, McMullan’s through ball sent Kennedy clear to ob home for his hat-trick and Kenendy then punished a weak goal kick to make it 4-1.

Kennedy’s shot then cannoned off the bar for Graham to round off the scoring.

Carniny Youth 5, St Mary’s ‘B’ 2: After conceding an early goal, Carniny fought back brilliantly, first through Young who headed home at the back post to equalise, then McAleese who found his way past the keeper and rolled the ball in for the lead, and finally Reid tackled the ball in for the third goal when the strikers shot held up on the wet surface.

Carniny continued in the same vein with goals from Young and Kerr ending the contest before St Mary’s pulled a goal back late on.

Carniny Youth 1, Linfield 5: Despite early-season wins over Glentoran and Ballymena, it was always going to be a tough ask for Carniny against Linfield, even more so after falling behind inside five minutes.

Lynn equalised with a terrific free kick but some uncharacteristic poor defending and goalkeeping gave Linfield chances and they punished Carniny.

Enniskillen Rangers 0, Carniny Youth 3: The deadlock was broken by Carniny good pressing play saw Murray and Campbell combining seen the ball feed into Jake Parker who burst through and calmly tucked the ball past the oncoming keeper.

Carniny doubled their lead when Matthew Kirk powered through from the midfield to hit his strike into the top corner of the net.

Carniny scored again with a fine solo effort from Murray who ran from the half way line weaved his way into the box and slotted the ball past the keeper.

Carniny Youth 5, Coleraine Academy 1: Peter Rankin opened the scoring for Carniny after being played through by Bailie Young and Rankin also added the second after his initial effort wasn’t cleared by the Coleraine defence.

In the second half, Rankin returned the favour for Young to score Carniny’s third and then Rankin completed his hat-trick to score Carniny’s fourth. Young added Carniny’s fifth before Coleraine scored a consolation goal late on.

UNDER-19

Carniny Youth 6, Lurgan Celtic Youth 2: Carniny opened the scoring after twelve minutes when Tyrone Balmer headed home from a Michael Hagan corner.

It was from another set piece on twenty five minutes that Carniny increased their lead and this time it was a headed goal from Matthew Armstrong when he connected with a Benji Agnew free kick.

On 57 minutes Carniny increased their lead to 3-0 when a free kick from Michael Hagan around 30 yards from goal evaded everyone and finished up in the net.

On 68 minutes it was 4-0 when Tyrone Balmer fired in a shot which was too hot to handle and two minutes later it was 5-0 when a mistake by a defender allowed Krystian Jaworski through on goal and he calmly placed his shot into the net.

Lurgan pulled a couple of goals back but with three minutes left, an excellent Michael Hagan cross from the left was headed home by Tyrone Balmer to complete his hat-trick.
