Close to dream move to Leeds

The 17 year-old bagged a brace during Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Portadown and, after a recent trial at Elland Road, is in talks with the Championship One side.

Glenavon chairman Adrian Teer says the club are pleased with the deal the club would

get out of a possible transfer.

“We’re happy with it and we think that, when it’s announced, everyone else will be

pleased with it too,” he told the ‘MAIL.’

However, Hamilton isn’t counting his chickens just yet.

“There has been talk in the media about it but it hasn’t been completed yet. We’re hoping it will go through because he’s a great kid and we want to see him getting a chance across the water.

“I thought he should have been away during the summer but for one reason or another, he

didn’t get a team to take a chance on him.

“They’re in talks at the minute so we’ll have to wait and see if everyone agrees. The two clubs have to agree before anything can happen. Robbie has to agree with the club involved as well.

“We don’t see any problems from our side. What we have requested has to be agreed and Robbie has to agree his terms. There are still a couple of things that have to happen.

“For Robbie’s sake, we hope they do but recently I had a player sign on a piece of paper

and the deal still didn’t go through.

“That’s why you don’t talk too much about these things because it’s the player we are protecting until it all happens.

“Yes, the progress is very positive and hopefully it will be done soon, but Leeds are in the middle of a takeover and you never know what way things go.”

McDaid has made 12 appearances for Glenavon, nine as a substitute, scoring three goals.

He also plays for Northern Ireland U18s. He netted his first senior goal in Glenavon’s 5-0 victory over Harland and Wolff Welders in last season’s Irish Cup Fifth Round.
