Coleraine Academy U9’s hit 11 past Carniny

Coleraine Under 8s took to the field today for their first game since beginning training 3 weeks ago playing Dungiven Celtic. Due to the size of the squad the coaches split the group into 2 and today it was the turn of the group one to kick start their youth football careers. Well done to all the boys involved who put in a fine display.

Under 9 Academy Team

Academy 11 - 0 Carniny

Jack Elliot grabbed a first half hattrick for Coleraine. Getting in on the action before the break were Jake Scott and Tyler Mitchell. Aaron Campbell make it six before Matthew Lenaghan made it 7-0. The eighth goal was again a great solo effort by captain Jake Scott, the ninth goal came with 10 minutes to go from Harry Doherty. Tyler Mitchell added another before Harry Doherty grabbed his second to leave the final score 11-0.

With no league game for the Olympic 05 squad the 04 squad played a friendly to keep up match fitness.

Under 10 Academy Team

Coleraine 04 Academy 2 – 2 Limavady

The boys started off well and were rewarded with an early goal from Bobby Millar. Just before half time a lapse in concentration let Limavady

back into the game, the score at the break was 1-1.

Limavady started the second half quicker than Coleraine and were soon 2-1in front. To the boys credit they continued to press forward and with a little bit of luck on any other day they could have scored three or four more goals striking both the bar and post and the Limavady keeper producing a few good saves but had to settle for an excellent headed equaliser from Owen Boyd from a Lewis Tosh corner to leave the score 2-2 at the final whistle.

Coleraine 04 Olympic 1 – 1 Northend

Good pressure saw Olympic take the lead through Reece Steele who finishing well. Deep into the second half Northend got their equaliser, from an unstoppable shot from outside the area. Olympic pushed on for the winner, but were unable to find a way passed an impressive Northend keeper.

Curtis Hanson fired in a powerful shot from the left which was well saved, but Patrick Kelly was on hand to knock home the rebound to open the scoring. The first half failed to produce further scoring despite some excellent build up play. It took ten minutes of second half play for Coleraine to break through the Moyola defence with Patrick Kelly breaking from the half way line to slot the ball under the keeper. One minute later Pierce Quigley scored the goal of the game. A minute later Patrick Kelly completed his hat-trick with a neat shot under the keeper.

Under 12 Olympic Team

Coleraine 02 Olympic 3 - 0 Northend

Coleraine took control of the game straight from the kick off putting the Northend defence under pressure. Ben Groocock opened the scoring from a free kick. Campbell McFaul made it 2-0. The third goal was a joy to watch with Nelson play the ball from the back, through midfield to the forwards and calmly slotted home by James Symington 3-0.

Under 15 Academy Team

Coleraine U15’s 1-1 Portadown

Paddy Quigg made the breakthrough on 18 minutes striking from the 18 yard line to give Coleraine a 1-0 lead. The Ports efforts paid off through a clinical header to make it 1-1
