On a very small tight pitch Southside struggled to make an impact on the home side defence. The normal free flowing football of the Southside team was not evident in the opening half due to the congestion on the small playing area.

The second half started with Southside slowly but surely wearing down the Ballyclare midfield. Dylan Graham started to enforce his authority in the middle allowing Stewart Nixon and Sam McNiece to attack the Ballyclare back line.

Corey McDowell had the ball in the net only to see his goal be disallowed. But the signs were there that the opening goal was coming.

Ryan Corrigan was introduced to the game having just recovered from an ankle injury and what an impact he would have.

Inside ten minutes of his introduction he was released on the left by an inch perfect pass from Josh McCready and from just inside the box Ryan shot home low and hard to give Southside the 1-0 lead.

Right from the kick off Ballyclare caught the Southside defence sleeping and went straight up the pitch and equalised making it 1-1.

With minutes remaining the best move of the match led to the winner. Receiving the ball from big Lewis, Jordan Kirk passed down the right to Stewart Nixon. The wee man released Sam McNiece on the wing and his perfect square ball was met at the back post by Ryan Corrigan who made no mistake and sealed the three points for Southside.

On Wednesday night this week 18th Sept Southside travel to Loughside for a midweek league fixture against Ballywalter with a 7.30pm ko.

Southside: Erwin, Kirk, McCready, Logan, Allen, Graham, Nixon, McDowell, Henry, McNiece, Calderwood, J Stewart, R Stewart, Corrigan.
