A second half strike from Enda Curran ensured the Brandywell men deservedly collected their first victory of the season.

However they had to work hard as Rovers had a host of chances with John Russell on two occasions missing clear cut opportunities.

In fairness his late header was kept out by a tremendous save by City goalkeeper Gerard Doherty.
