The Waterside man, who joined Stute from Newbuildings United last year, has taken the Premiership like a duck to water.

“I’m pleased for Stephen, he has been one of our shining lights this season and credit to him, he’s enjoying the Premiership life and we have to keep that up,” he said.

“Our goal was fantastic, as initially it was an over hit pass by (Dwayne) McManus and the cross was absolutely top notch from Stephen, he did very well to dig it out.

“But Stephen deserves no amount of credit because he’s absolutely fantastic in training, he gives his best, he never misses sessions, he has got great application and you saw what his fitness levels are like.

“At the last minute he burst down the wing past (Stephen) McAlorum, who was treading water and he made a great chance for Tommy McBride, but we unfortunately couldn’t take it.”
