Derby encounter produces a six-goal thriller

They almost doubled their advantage when Rhys Ewings crossed from the right wing but Brandon Warke’s half volley went just over the bar. Coleraine were getting into the game and nearly levelled with a good shot from the edge of the box but Adam Hopkins in goal pushed the shot onto the post. Coleraine equalised a minute later when a long range free kick was parried by Adam Hopkins and Coleraine were quick to the ball and slotted home.

The Colts regained the lead when Adam Black played a great ball over the top of the Coleraine defence on 20 minutes to Jack Shaw who fired home to make it 2-1. And they made it 3-1 soon after when Johnny Mairs played in Joe McClements who finished well. Coleraine bounced back and pulling a goal back from a corner which caught the Colts daydreaming.

Brandon Warke thought he had scored with a super drive but again the keeper produced a fine save to push the ball onto the bar. Coleraine pulled themselves level when they broke and slid the ball home to make it 3-3. Adam Hopkins was harshly penalised when he was judged to have handled the ball outside the box and Coleraine would have scored had Dan Mairs not turned the set piece onto the post.

The Colts were pushing hard for the winner Jack Shaw made a great run but yet again the keeper made a good stop. Johnny Mairs picked the ball up on the halfway line and drove forward past two Coleraine defenders into the box and shot beating the keeper but a defender scrambled the ball off the line.

The final whistle went with the ball still in the Coleraine box as the Colts pushed hard but a good game of football finished 3-3.
