Stephen O’Flynn’s second half goal was enough for the Waterside out-fit to claim victory at Tillysburn Park.
Kee however believes the work-rate throughout the team during the 90 minutes was the key to their success, with centre-back John Curran in particular a rock at the back.

“There was a good determination both at last week’s match against Donegal Celtic and at training all week, so I was pleased with that and they carried that on into the Welders game,” he stated.
“Some of the defending as a team was good and I think apart from Doc’s (Michael Doherty) save near the end of the game, the Welders never caused us any problems at all.
“All the stats before the game was about them being unbeaten in their last eight games and they had not conceded a goal in six games, but it says a lot for the players that we came to the Welders and won.

“It also says a lot for the effort that they put in and how far they have come as a team, because 12 months ago we wouldn’t have won those type of games, but there’s more determination and focus, which is good and it will stand them in stead for the last two matches.”
Kee was also pleased that O’Flynn was back amongst the goals, the front man has now netted 12 goals in 15 matches.
“In fairness to Stephen he’s a right place, right time type player,” he added.

“We talked about creativity at half-time and Mickey’s (McCrudden) has done a nut-meg got away from his marker and shot across the keeper and the keeper has parried it and O’Flynn was there to score well.
“It was good combination play between the two of them.”
