Determinded display but U15s are beaten

RATHFRILAND U15 have this season entered into the midulster league under the stewardship of David Gilmore and Gary Young.

Saturday past was their opening league fixture away in Dungannon Park against Lisbellaw.
After a timid opening

Rathfriland started to play the sort of game they will need to every week to survive in this league and found themselves taking the lead through Daniel Bailie who fired in a rebound after the keeper had kept out his initial effort.

They started the second half brightly but faded for a period of ten minutes in the middle of the half conceding two goals in the process.

The first was a shot that slipped under Moffett in goals and the second scored by an unmarked player in the six yard box.

Rathfriland almost equalised in the dying moments when Buller ran through on the keeper and fired a great shot goalwards but the Lisbellaw keeper made a fine save to deny him.

Really the Rathfriland lads should have took the points off this team but it was their first outing in this division and they were missing key midfielder James Pollock through illness.

Team: Moffett, Baird, Weir, Clydesdale, Patterson, A.Weir, Buller, Mallon, Megaw, Bailie, McConville. Subs: Byrne, Burns, Adams.
