Despite Slane boasting three separate scorers, however, it was defender John Whitten that was awarded special praise after the away win.

“All credit goes to the players as they were fantastic,” he said.

“All 14 played their part in a comprehensive victory.

“I was really pleased with the clean sheet and in truth we should have scored more but I am happy.

Man of the Match for me was John Whitten who, in his new position of right back, not only defended superbly but made some great runs forward as well.

“It is amazing what a bit of belief and confidence does to a football team.

“That’s three wins on the bounce and we look forward to the visit of Broomhedge FC committee, players and fans to Jubilee Park this Saturday.”

That match kicks off at 2pm.
