Down remember former player with memorial competition in his honour

Nevin Spence’s memory will live on at future competitions, with a Milk Cup build-up tournament in his name hosted by County Down.

In its inaugural year, Down triumphed – but it is Nevin’s legacy as a sportsman which could be the biggest inspiration for the current crop of Juniors.

Said coach Kyle Spiers : “The Milk Cup is a transitional period for most of the boys – they arrive with their parents, and leave as men. They make their mark, and Nevin certainly did that.

“He was our Player of the Tournament in 2005, not only for his ability, but also the attitude to match. He was the perfect example of someone with the full package.”
