Draperstown Celtic welcome new players

TRAINING has begun for the new season for both Draperstown Celtic youth squads. The teams have built up a good reputation in the local Youth soccer scene having reached the Foyle Cup Final, won various trophies and helped N. Ireland Ladies prepare for tournaments.

As well as our experienced youth coaches leading the teams ,the senior managers (who also work for the IFA and Co Derry Centre of Excellence) take a strong interest in our youth set up and are keen to progress the players and take sessions. We also have guest coaches who appear regularly and pass on their knowledge including coaches from Derry City FC and the IFA. So if you would like to play for a friendly, progressive and successful team please come along to the training sessions held at Cahore on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

U16s (born in 1997) will train on Wednesday nights at Cahore Park from 7pm. There are still places up for grabs in the squad so please come along and be part of it. This year the teams are competing in the MUYL against teams such as Dromore, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Lower Maze, Markethill Swifts, Sunnyside, Tullyvallen, St Marys, Camlough, Damolly, Ashgrove, Donegal Celtic and Coagh Utd.

Skills Development Centre

The importance of developing youth football is key to the future success of Draperstown Celtic and therefore we are pleased to announce the return of the highly successful Draperstown Celtic Skills Development Centre.

The focus of the Skills Development Centre is on developing skilled, confident and creative footballers while making the game fun to practice and play. We will teach the importance of good sportsmanship, respect for all and the value of winning but not at the expense of player character or performance development. The Centre embraces the concept of fun and enjoyment, which is important if children are to develop a lifelong love of football. It is designed for children from P3 – P7 of all abilities, to develop skills, understanding and most importantly make the game fun and enjoyable.
