Drummond signs on at the Bannsiders

The former Glasgow Rangers, Crusaders and Ballymena United man has penned a two-year contract with the club.

Kearney is delighted to have Drummond on board.

“Wayne has a lot of experience for someone his age, but since he came back to the Irish League he hasn’t really been given an opportunity to prove himself,” he said.

“I’ve been watching Wayne for a couple of months now and the reports I’ve had on him are excellent. In terms of his technical ability, he’s up there with the best goalkeepers in the league, but at the clubs he’s been with in the Premiership, he hasn’t been given the chance to prove himself as a number one.

“I even remember from games he played against us for Ballymena where we were completely dominant, he was easily their best player in terms of the number of saves he made to keep the score down. Having spoken to Paul Muir, who played with him at the Welders this season, he says he has been in excellent form since he went there in January.

“Wayne is looking forward to the challenge and is keen to establish himself at Coleraine over these next two seasons.”

Drummond, who finished the season with Harland and Wolff Welders, took to Twitter this morning (Thursday) to break the news,

He tweeted: “Can now confirm that I’m looking forward to next season with my new club Coleraine a challenge I’m really looking forward to.”

Drummond will take squad number 43 next season.
