Some will be familiar with the game on Soccer AM. At selected matches, the first being Linfield on October 28th, 5 contestants will be allowed the opportunity to hit the crossbar and win £500. The first three contestants will be chosen by ballots, tickets cost £1, the remaining two wild card entries will pay £10 for the privilege.

The challenge has attracted a sponsor, Ballymena Mortgage Centre. On hand recently to launch the initiative was Jason Hunter, partner at BMC and Zach Barr of Ballymena United, Zach impressively hit the bar on his third attempt (Glenn Ferguson take note).

Jason Hunter has experienced the Crossbar Challenge recently at a Paris St Germain game - his brother in law is the award winning Goundsman Jonathan Calderwood from Clough who was headhunted by the French giants. At a match, Jason saw participants from the crowd attempt to hit the Crossbar and member of the first team try and place balls in a convertible Citroen on the track.

Tickets go on sale at £1 and Brian is hopeful hotshots from all the local leagues will snap them up. The draw will take place on the Wednesday prior to the game at BMC offices on Queen Street.

To become a wild card entry, first call Brian on 07831 803970 and £10 secures a place. A full list of rules are available by calling 2564 1886.so come all you hotshots, £500 awaits your talent!

At the beginning of the month the Diamond Bar brought on two new members who became magic members. For one, John Howe (A2909) it has been a great start, a £50 winner after 3 weeks and for his agent Mandy Gilmore a bonus of £50. As we know a magic member gives his agent the same win.

Another familiar name on the winners list this week was Linda Reynolds (C9722), the Greenmount Terrace lady has been a multiple Sports Bond winner on the agency of Luke Gaston. Tommy Patterson’s agency had a £50 winner with his brother Joe Patterson (A7092).

The McCallion family, a great Sky Blue family, had a £10 winner with Mark McCallion (B0767) on Leslie Kinnear’s agency. Maurice Anderson had a £10 winner with John Anderson (A6325). A second C number this week saw Ann Service (C6331) win £10 on the agency of Andrew Boyd.

The Jackpot was not won with numbers 4, 10, 21 and 25 and rises to £300 this week.

“Never have I had a more sad phone call from an agent” commented Brian Thompson about his phone call from Maurice Anderson on Sunday morning.

On Sunday we lost two loyal Sports Bond members and both live within a stones throw in Royal Court. Malcolm bell lost his brave fight with illness only six months after his son Uel passed away in similar circumstances. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Bell family. David Johnston passed away on Sunday after a short illness. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his sister May, also a Sports Bond member. As Sports bond is a family we grieve collectively,” added Brian.
