The performance saw his men secure an impressive 5-0 success at Suffolk Road and the ’Stute gaffer felt on the day his side could have even won by more.

“In the first half we scored one goal, but to be honest we didn’t get out of second gear and didn’t threaten their goal enough and I told the players at half-time that we needed to do better in the second half, which we did,” he said.

“We scored our second goal and then they decided to play a high line for some reason and they kept pushing up and because of that they were a bit disjointed and we got in three or four times. In fact our second, third and fourth goals came with them pushing up and us getting in behind them.

“Robbie Hume, Darren McCauley and Declan McKeever, were all on the scoresheet, but we could have scored ten.

“At no point did Donegal Celtic look to be in the game. Even in the first half, there was good concentration, good effort, good commitment and the basics are being done in terms of defending and that’s what’s needs to be done at this time of the season.”

Hume (2), McCauley, McKeever and John Curran all got on the scoresheet and that has taken the Drumahoe side to almost 100 goals for the season in all competition, a stat which pleases Kee.

“We have five players who are in double figures in terms of goals scored this season and Aaron Walsh was telling me that he has scored nine goals and he’s a midfield player, while McCauley, (Michael) McCrudden, (Stephen) Parkhouse, (Stephen) O’Flynn are all in double figures and flying.

“In fairness Mickey McCrudden and Walsh have probably been our best players this year but McCrudden has been playing with an injury for the last while, so the week’s rest will do him no harm and he should come back sharper.”
