Frustrating day for Rangers as they fall to defeat

After a bright start at the Valley Stadium it was the Gers who drew first blood when Dean Gordon found himself unmarked inside the box in the 13th minute and headed a Cousins free kick into the roof of the net.

Within three minutes Fivemiletown had equalised through Chris McDowell who glanced a header beyond the reaches of Blevins.

The same player would put his side into the lead within a minute of the restart after a free kick by McDowell into the box evaded everyone and found its way into the far corner.

Rangers looked comfortable in possession but Fivemiletown were dangerous on the break with both Cousins and Frazer having to make last ditch tackles to stop further goals on counter attacks.

On the stroke of half time the home side went two goals in front after an offside call went their way with Creggan firing into the roof of the net.

The opening twenty minutes of the second half was dominated by Banbridge Rangers with Gordon going close with shots on several occasions and some neat football.

Fivemiletown were always dangerous on the break and a Chambers interception in the 61st minute kept the game within reach.

The second goal for the visitors finally arrived after 64 minutes when Ryan Gregg bundled the ball in after a goalmouth scramble.

Fivemiletown hungon until the 83rd minute when a defensive error allowed Carroll in to score a fourth goal for the home team.

In the 89th minute insult was added to injury as McDowell drilled a low shot in for the fifth Fivemiletown goal to the frustration of the Rangers contingent.

With the current run of results Banbridge Rangers would prefer to play badly and win rather than go through another game like Saturday.
