Gaffer wary of Dergview

INSTITUTE manager Paul Kee admits his players need to remain focus and take nothing for granted when they travel to lowly Dergview, on Saturday.

Kee’s men currently sit eight points clear of Richard Clarke’s side and they have picked up four points from their last three games, defeating Donegal Celtic but more impressively drawing 2-2 at league leaders Dundela.

“We have to go to Dergview and try to keep our momemtum going,” stated Kee.

“Complacency can happen in any game, but we’ll be making the players aware that Dergview went to Dundela a couple of weeks ago and drew 2-2, we’ll have an hour’s training session on Thursday night and then we’ll sit down a chat about what way we’ll approach Saturday’s game.

“Iam McFaul has watched Dergview for us and we have a good idea what way they play and we have a good idea who their key players are, but if we can keep what we are doing and get our key players influencing the game then on our day we are a match for any team.
“It’s just a case of keeping that level of concentration and discipline going and I think the players want that, they know the importance of the league, so it’s up for us to remind them of that tomorrow night.”

The Waterside men may have Paddy McLaughlin back from suspension, while Declan McKeever may also be involved, but Robbie Hume is likely to miss out again through injury.

“We have to try and keep our key players fit, it was good that (Michael) McCrudden is back now and we have to keep the likes of (Darren) McCauley fit, because offsenively he has been outstanding. We have moved him higher up the pitch and he’s hard to contain at times.

“His running ability and his receiving the ball on the turn has been excellent. He’s got good creativity, he’s got power, strength and he’s got ability, so hopefully his form can continue.

“It’s quite exciting watching Colm McLaughlin and Darren McCauley link up at the minute and we have good balance down our left hand side, while Crowner (Graham Crown) put in a good shift against Coleraine on Monday night, down our right side.

“(Gary) Henderson had a better game on Monday night, while (Aaron) Walsh was exceptionally against Coleraine and it was an excellent work-out for our boys, in fact that game against Coleraine replaces about six training seesions, so it was definitely a good game for us.

“Paddy is a key player for us, he’s captain, but he’s had a slight calf problem, so we decided to rest him against Donegal Celtic and Coleraine, but hopefully he’ll train on Thursday and be available for selection on Saturday.

“While Decky, who has been a big player for us over the last year, should be back at training this week, but Robbie will be still out for at least another week. Michael Doherty and Andy Devlin will also be back in the squad, but Marty Gallagher is struggling with a foot injury.”
