Hamilton happywith home drawin the Irish Cup

Glenavon have been pitted against Championship Two side Sport and Leisure Swifts in the Irish Cup fifth round.

The Blues will host the side currently sitting 35 league positions below them on Saturday 11th January.

Swifts have won just one league game all season and are second bottom of Championship Two, but Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton isn’t taking anything for granted.

He said: “No Cup match is easy. We saw that a few years ago when Newington beat Glentoran. That can happen if your attitude and demeanour isn’t right.

“We were just looking a home draw against a team at least a league below us so we’ve got that. If the boys go out with the right mentality we should win the game. There’s no doubt about that but at the same time upsets can happen to any team.

“We have to make sure we get ourselves into the next round and hope that the draw goes our way.

“In the last few years we’ve got through the first hurdle and then drawn Crusaders. Hopefully we get through, get a better draw this time round and we can go on a good run to make up for the League Cup quarter-final defeat.”
