Deery had a never say die attitude and the Waterside men showed that when they netted twice in stoppage time to earn a point at Lurgan Celtic.

“It’s not very often when you are 2-0 down in the 90th minute that you get something out of the game, but it’s a great credit and testament to the players that they got a draw,” he said.

“Unfortunately for us we gave away two terrible goals, which we haven’t been doing this season, but on a positive note the character we showed to get a point I think it’s a defining moment in our season.”

Deery also conceded that scoring in ‘Fergie time’ was a nice touch being a Manchester United supporter.

“Me and you know as well, being two good United men, but when they were 1-0 down, especially in Alex Ferguson’s time during the 1999 season, they never gave up and always came back, but you have to install a mentality in people that you believe you can always get something out of games, no matter the score-line.

“I’m not getting carried away but we try our best to train well and for any team to get dominated our lose a game in training it’s disappointing for them, so we are trying to install that in players that they need to be competitive in training and take that into games.

“So if you have that mentality that you are always going to keep going, you’ll always have a chance and I felt when we got one that there was going to be another opportunity coming our way and I was absolutely delighted with Gareth’s (Brown) finish.

“The one wee bit of quality that we spoke about at half-time thankfully happened late-on and we took it.

“Mickey (McCrudden) shows his wee bit of quality that we know he has and thankfully Browner scores and I’m delighted we managed to scrape a point.”
