The Waterside men travel to Milltown this weekend, knowing the home side only need a point to secure the title.

“Challenges is what you play the game for and that’s what you enjoy.“It would be different if we were are the other end of the split and just seeing the season out, so this match now is a big challenge for us.”

Only a few weeks ago at Drumahoe, Matthew Tipton’s side defeated ’Stute 1-0 and Deery hasn’t forgotten about that result.

“They are the only team that has defeated us since the split, but I definitely feel we deserved something from that game,” he added.

“But like a few other games this season against them it didn’t happen, so we have to be a wee bit more steely this time.

“A clean-sheet would be massive for us and that’s something I’ll emphasising to the players this week at training.

“I would feel that we need a clean-sheet if we want to win the game at their place.

“They are a good home team and they have threats all over the pitch, so we’ll do a lot of stuff this week in terms of defending throughout the pitch.

“If we did win it would be a great three points and that’s what we’ll be aiming for, but we know it’s going to be a real tough game, but we look forward to it.”

Skipper Stephen O’Donnell (pictured) returns from suspension, but duo Niall Grace and Darryl McDermott are struggling with injuries.

“Stephen is back in the squad, but Niall and Darryl have knocks, but I would say they’ll be fine.”
