Following the NI team’s success in Poland, the players are committed to staying involved in the ‘Football for All’ project and promote our vision of creating a fun, safe and inclusive culture throughout football in Northern Ireland.

The Team, who come from across Northern Ireland, came together in the City of Culture during FARE week to raise awareness of Homelessness and also to support the anti-racism message at the heart of the FARE initiative.

NI Homeless World Cup Team Manager, Justin McMinn said: “After returning from an amazing experience in the World Cup the players want to continue to promote the FFA message. We are trying to do this through awareness raising matches and tournaments.

“It was a great opportunity to play Derry City Legends at the Brandywell as the legends team really welcomed our boys with great words of encouragement to keep the players focused.

Prior to the match, the NI Homeless World Cup Team took part in a storytelling workshop delivered by ex-NI international and former Derry City player/manager, Felix Healy.

The purpose of a ‘Football for All’ storytelling workshop is to allow a club tell a short story of their experience of football through the years, particularly during the Troubles. Then young people and older members of the community reflect on how things have changed, and how far the club has moved on.
