Over 250 primary school children are set to take part in a unique tournament aimed at promoting inclusion through sport.

Organisers Rowandale Integrated Primary School (RIPS) in Moira confirmed that 24 schools will take part in a Soccer and Gaelic tournament aimed at developing children's skills in teamwork and communication as well as uniting the wider school and local community through sport.

"To kickstart our efforts, we have organised two inaugural events: the Rowandale Integrated Football Tournament and the Rowandale Integrated Gaelic Blitz.

“These tournaments aim to bring together children from local schools for a day of sport and teamwork. The intention is to host these events on an annual basis and to establish cricket, rugby, and netball tournaments in the future.”

The football tournament was launched at Lurgan Town Football Club grounds, with the Gaelic football tournament due to take place in early June at St Michael’s GAC, Magheralin.
