McEleney mistake costs City dear
Derry City suffered a disappointing 1-0 Europa League second qualifying round first leg defeat to Belarusian side Shakhtyar Soligorsk.
The only goal of the first leg tie came on 28 minutes as Shane McEleney’s terrible back pass only found Soligorsk frontmanNikolai Yanush and he made no mistake rounding City goalkeeper Gerard Doherty before side footing home into the empty net from 12 yards.
After the game Doherty, who made a host of saves to keep the tie alive, spoke to Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin.
