Montgomery to the fore as champions return to form

Adam Montgomery continued his recovery from injury with four goals for Dollingstown in Saturday’s convincing 7-1 success over Markethill Swifts.

A Richard Thompson hat-trick also helped the defending Mid-Ulster Intermediate League Section A champions register back-to-back wins inside four days.

Defeats of AFC Craigavon and Markethill Swifts resulted in 11 goals scored and just one conceded for a six-point tally in response to the previous weekend’s home draw against Ballymacash Rangers.

“It is about using the squad due to having games on a weekend and midweek,” said Gary Duke, the Dollingstown manager. “It is a squad game and it helps us manage those players with aches or pains.

“I have been pleased with the performance levels over the past two games.”

Duke highlighted Montgomery for special praise.

“Adam has had a tough time over the past year or so, initially missing because of his hip problem then returning and doing well only to pick up an ankle injury,” said Duke. “It is great to have him back as Adam is a smart player who combines well with Richie Thompson.”
