Mossley finishing with a flourish

“We won 6-0 at their place in our last match so we knew what to expect,” said Mossley boss, Garry Campbell. “They’re not a bad side, they try to play football, but we’ve found a bit of late form now that we’ve relaxed and are enjoying our football again.”

Mossley opened the scoring after just two minutes when a defender turned a Jordan McCune cross into his own net.

Holywood cancelled that one out courtesy of a 20-yard free-kick that sailed over keeper Dwayne Jenkins’ head.

After the break Ross Miskimmin got his sights up and running, set up nicely by strike partner Nicky Agnew, before fastening onto a pass from Ben Fletcher, to thump in his second and Mossley’s third.

Holywood pegged another one back from another free-kick, but it was all done and dusted once Miskimmin was sent tumbling inside the box. He stepped up to complete his first Mossley hat-trick from the spot.

Mossley have just two fixtures remaining: away to Kilroot Rec on Saturday and then home to Newington Rangers.

n Eighteenth Newtownabbey Old Boys seem to be just about safe, following Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Dromore Amateurs.

Just two matches from home, they still have to travel to Bangor Amateurs and unbeaten leaders Colin Valley. But after Saturday’s narrow success, they are 13 points clear of bottom club Kilroot Rec.

Eighteenth forged ahead through a Rab Butler volley with Darren Anderson doubling their advantage. A Gary Sloan own goal saw Dromore pull one back and they restored parity on 75 minutes.

But 18th grabbed all three points when Robert Sloan’s initial shot was deflected into Anderson’s path.
