Moyola claim league and cup double

Moyola went into this Cup Final already League Champions looking to cap off an amazing season with another trophy which for a team that has only been together for six months is a fantastic achievement.

The game started with a high tempo both teams passing the ball well and fighting for possession in midfield. Moyola began to look the more likely to open the scoring with strikers Sam White and Matthew Mulholland bothing missing from close range.

Moyola continued to threaten and Lorcan Kerr had an opportunity to open the scoring but couldn’t take the chance this didn’t deter the young winger who on three occasions almost lobbed the Draperstown keeper with quick thinking shots.

The game began to settle down Moyolas other three midfielders Bryn Jones, David Bradley and Cathal Farren all having fantastic 1st halfs. Moyola eventually got the break through late on in the 1st half with Sam White flicking the ball over the top with Matthew Mulholland bearing down on goal a Draperstown defender stuck out an arm and handled the ball gifting Moyola a Penalty. Sam White stepped up and slotted the ball cooly to the keepers right sending the keeper the wrong way.

Draperstown pushed hard before the break trying to get back into the game but Moyola defense of Joe Craig, Jordan Woods, Poddy McAtamney and Robert Riddell held firm restricting Draperstown to long range shots. Goal Keeper Alex Hancock wasnt really tested during the first half.

The second have started brightly with Draperstown winning a penalty for an adjudged foul by Goal Keeper Alex Hancock. Hancock dusted himself down and superbly saved the penalty with was struck with power slightly to his right. Moyola were on the back foot with the outstanding Hancock having to pull of some fine saves to keep the game in Moyolas favour.

Moyola started to settled and carved out opportunities with Matthew Mulholland lobbing the keeper only to see his effort bounce just wide. Moyola kept up the pressure and got a deserving second Goal through David Bradley who ran on to a well weighted pass from Sam White to fire the ball into the bottom corner and spark scenes of celebration on the Moyola bence. Moyola held firm and took home their second trophy of the season.
