Murphy the special guest as BB Old Boys celebrate continued progress

The current Dungannon Swifts manager spent the evening as guest of honour at the end-of-season prize night for Lurgan BB Old Boys in Portadown Golf Club.

Matt Kennedy picked up the main prize as firsts’ Player of the Year, with Richie Ferguson the winner of the side’s Leading Goalscorer prize.

Jonny Adams claimed the award as reserves’ Player of the Year and Simon Dowey finished as Lurgan BBOB Youth Player of the Year. Andrew Smyth was the Young Player of the Year winner.

Paul Wright and John Davidson collected special individual honours in celebration of sustained contributions.

David Kennedy made a presentation to Darren Murphy on the night as a mark of gratitude for his support.

“After entertaining chat by excellent special guest Darren Murphy and bubbly Lurgan BBOB MC Iain Uprichard, the awards were presented,” said a Lurgan BBOB spokesman. “Our skippers were prominent as they gave introduction speeches for the Leading Goalscorer awards.

“The club awards were collected by worthy winners, with John Davidson setting a great example thanks to his progress and Paul Wright named Clubman of the Year in recognition of his commitment to the club.

“The individual Player of the Year prizes each went to centre-backs as Simon Dowey, Jonny Adams and Matt Kennedy collected the rewards.

“Our thanks go to the club’s various sponsors, including AMK Door and Window Hardware of Robert Street in Lurgan as our main sponsor.

“It was also great to have Darren Murphy as our special guest.

“Players are reminded that pre-season training returns to the club schedule on Tuesday, July 15 in Lurgan Park.

“Follow-on sessions will run each Thursday and Tuesday evening from 7 o’clock.

“All players are welcome to join in the training and we would like to wish everyone a successful summer.”
