Neil’s double salvo sinks Town

The home side created the first goal scoring opportunity on seven minutes when the hard working Neil Clydesdale broke down the right and crossed for Adam Walker at the back post but he fired his shot wide.

Banbridge’s first real chance came on 12 minutes from a free kick outside the box but the normally lethal Ally Wilson put his shot over the bar.

Clydesdale then hit a rasping shot from fully 25 yards but the Banbridge keeper pulled off a superb stop to deny Dollingstown the first goal.

However ten minutes later Dollingstown did open the scoring with a superb team goal. It all started with Jordan Gibson making a strong run from midfield before releasing Adam walker who in turn

played in R Donaghy who then moved the ball to Clydesdale who fired into the net against his home town team.

Then five minutes later he again scored the crucial second goal from a 35 yards free kick after Gibson was fouled. Adam Walker had another great chance at the back post before half time but his shot was well saved by the Banbridge keeper.

Banbridge almost got back into the match on 50 minutes but defender Dwayne Kerr made an outstanding tackle on Ally Wilson to prevent a certain goal.

Banbridge went further behind when Jordan Gibson headed home from a Moffett free kick.

The game then petered out as a contest after this although not before Clydesdale had chances to complete his hat-trick but he was unable to do so.

This was a valuable three points for Dollingstown who are trying to finish in the top six if possible during their first season in senior football .

This week the Dollybirds are on the road again to Ballymoney to play Glebe who they haven’t met yet this season as earlier in the season the game was postponed.
