Lisburn Rangers Youth

The 3rd round awaits Lisburn Rangers Youth after a 3-0 victory over Loughgall Colts in the NIBFA Cup.

It was a game in which the weather had a part to play and Lisburn were first to play against it, Rangers found it hard to move the ball around with any accuracy and with aerial balls not finding their target it was a hard fought half but Rangers knew if they made it through they would have the upper hand.

The breakthrough came when Thomas Burns found the net with a flick of his head from a Niall Dixon’s cross 1-0.

Rangers fought hard and created a few good chances but were unable to increase the gap with Loughgall’s keeper making a fine double save the half finished 1-0.

With the wind behind them Rangers had a much better second half while Loughgall struggled with the elements and it wasn’t long before Rangers doubled the lead when Loughgall failed to clear a corner the ball fell to Kurtis Gillespie who finished it off 2-0.

It felt like this game was over with Loughgall struggling to create anything in the last third and the end came with a wonderful move from Rangers in midfield with the ball finding Thomas Burns on the left who drove a perfect ball in for Lee Hutton to volley home from close range 3-0.

On another day Rangers could have doubled the score and played a lot better but the 3rd round awaits and the boys will be delighted with that.
