The Ports had a provisional date in place to put forward a case against the decision of the IFA disciplinary committee to impose a 12-point deduction for the forthcoming Danske Bank Premiership season.

However, the meeting was cancelled yesterday and a fresh date may now not take place until after the start of the 2016/17 Irish League season.

The punishment was introduced in relation to an issue over Peter McMahon’s contract status.

Portadown have already been fined and had a ban on the signing of players to professional contracts until June 2017 following a previous disciplinary decision in relation to the club’s payment process.

Manager Pat McGibbon has made a number of signings despite the restrictions and Portadown’s pre-season friendly campaign will kick off on Saturday, July 16 with a game away to Swords Celtic in the Republic of Ireland.
