Rangers suffer one-goal defeat to Ards

Carrick Rangers’ pre-season programme got off to a muted start last night with a one-goal defeat at Ards.

A fifth-minute strike from Craig McMillen was enough to win the friendly at Clandeboye. McMillen broke clear of the Gers backline and guided the ball under goalkeeper Brian Neeson.

Carrick’s Adam Dick had a good chance to level matters with 20 minutes left when he rounded keeper Alan Young, only for Greg Hall to block his effort on goal.

Rangers’ next outing is on Saturday (July 11), away to Larne Tech Old Boys.
