The Ballymena boys have already romped to the Belfast & East Antrim Youth League title but they continue to chase silverware on a number of other fronts.

Last night (Monday), they were in action in the Knockout Cup final against Newington at Mallusk.

They face the same opponents again on Wednesday night, this time at the Showgrounds, in what is effectively a decider for the Shield competition.

It’s back to Belfast again on Friday night when Southside take on the champions of the South Belfast Youth League Division One, Immaculata, in what is unofficially billed as the “Belfast League Champions Cup”.

Southside’s most recent result was a 2-1 win over Willowbank in the Shield last Wednesday night, thanks to goals from Sam McNiece and Stewart Nixon.

Their scheduled match last weekend was called off because of a waterlogged pitch at the Showgrounds – a remarkable statistic in mid-May!

The club’s prize night is on Friday 24th May in the Ballymena Bowling Club from 7pm when former Linfield defender Stephen Douglas will be the guest speaker and presenter on the night.
