Banbridge Rangers Under 16 team played their 19th league game of the season on Saturday and remain unbeaten to date with a fine win over visitors Valley Rangers.

The Gers entertained Valley at the Tech pitch in Banbridge in front of a large home crowd who didn’t leave disappointed.

Early on there was a lot of frustration as Valley tried to upset any rhythm to the Banbridge Rangers game with a long ball approach used at every opportunity.

The opening goal of the game began in midfield when Ryan Woods found space to pick his pass and Bradley Harper composed himself to beat the onrushing keeper to make it 1-0 heading into the half time interval.

Banbridge Rangers started to control the tempo in the second half and this resulted in a wave of chances for the home side with Matthew Smylie and Andrew Trimble going close.

The second goal of the game arrived when Matthew Dodds drilled a low free kick through the wall and into the bottom corner of the Valley net.

The game was wrapped up with ten minutes to go when pacey forward Andrew Trimble broke clear of the last defender and finished past the keeper.

A fourth goal could have been added at the death when a Dean McIlveena corner saw Jamie Flack power a bullet header just wide of the mark.
