Win sets up all-Ballymena cup clash for Carniny U-14s

In the pick of the action, the Under 14s were made to work hard for their NIBFA Cup win over South Belfast side Rosario but went through to the next round courtesy of a Cameron Moag goal in the second half.

David Parker’s boys will now meet Ballymena United Youth Academy in the next round this Saturday in an exciting local mini derby.

UNDER-10

Carniny Youth 2, Portrush 3: With this being the first game after a winter break both sides were expected to be rusty but Portrush came flying out of the blocks and took an early lead when a cross from the right was unfortunately turned into his own net by a Carniny defender.

Mid-way through the first half, good work from the Portrush winger saw him cross for their striker who finished well on the turn to double the lead. It was soon 3-0 when the same player, who was causing all sorts of problems, had an easy finish.

As the half drew to a close Murray popped up with a well drilled shot into the bottom corner after some neat work by Moody.

Midway through the second half, the re-introduction of Scott & Reynolds added to the Carniny attacking threat and soon after the Reds scored the goal of the game. A surging run from defence by McMullan & a defence splitting sent Moody baring down on goal and he unselfishly squared to the on-running Scott who poked home.

Carniny piled on the pressure to find the equaliser which almost came as Scott crashed his effort off the crossbar in the final minute.

UNDER-10

Carniny Amateurs 10, Roe Valley Colts 2: Carniny opened the scoring when good work down the left by Cormac McMullan saw Leon Graham square the ball for Anthony Greer to tap home.

Roe Valley promptly went down the pitch and despite their cross being punched clear by McKee their striker equalised. Then the forwards of Carniny took over with all of them showing exceptional touches with Magee being too strong for his man and either scoring or setting up for Graham. McMullan proving his trickery on the left saw him score and Greer supporting from midfield got in on the act.

In the second half, Graham finished off a flowing move to start the scoring again. Roe Valley pulled a goal back but Carniny ran out comfortable winners.

UNDER-11

Carniny Youth 8, Castlecaulfield Youth 4: In an NIBFA Plate tie, Leon Patton broke through and scored the opener after 10 minutes. The same player made it two nil after 17 minutes.

Castlecaulfield pulled one back but Joshua Balmer made it 3-1 but Castlecaulfield scored again to leave the score 3-2 at half-time.

In the second half Carniny made the score 4-2 from a Diego Fletcher goal then Balmer made it 5-2 a minute later.

Up front for Carniny, Balmer got his hat- trick to make the score 6-2. The last ten minutes was end to end football and Castlecaulfield made the score 6-3, Carniny went on to make it 7-3 when Fletcher scored again and Castlecaulfield then made it 7- 4 Carniny made it 8-4 when Harley Farenden scored.

UNDER-12

Carniny Youth 1, Larne Youth 4: Carniny gave a fantastic account of themselves in their first competitive 11-a-side fixture against Larne Youth in the NIBFA Cup on Saturday morning.

It was Larne who broke the deadlock 15mins in, but Carniny kept battling, and were rewarded when a beautiful left wing cross found its way to Dylan Johnston who finished from close range at the back post. Shortly before half time Larne were back in front, their striker latching onto a great ball from midfield and shooting low across the helpless Carniny Keeper.

Carniny, with no substitutes began to tire in the last 5 minutes which allowed Larne to add gloss to the result.

UNDER-13

Carniny Youth 2, Linfield 3: A depleted Carniny side were slow to start and found themselves very quickly 2-0 down.

From a Lynn free kick Carniny did get some reward for their efforts when the keeper dropped it and Anderson was there to poke it in.

Linfield got their third before half-time with a lucky bounce off a divot that sent McNicholl the wrong way.

In the second half, Carniny pulled back another with a real individual goal from Lynn, pulling the ball back onto his right foot and curling the ball from outside the box into the bottom corner.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 1, Rosario 0: The decisive goal in this NIBFA Cup tie came in the second half when a ball was fed into Thomas McKitterick who slid the ball into Cameron Moag who raced through with a lovely chip to beat the advancing Rosario keeper.

UNDER-15

Carniny Youth 1, Glentoran 4: It was Glentoran who opened the scoring in the first half, but just minutes later Carniny replied through Bailey McNeill who expertly turned his defender to fire low into the Glens net for the equaliser. The Glens then went ahead after a defensive mix up allowed them in for a simple finish.

As the second half started, Glentoran began to get the upper hand as the Carniny boys tired and the Glens scored two more.

UNDER-17

Carniny Youth 1, Linfield 5: After a lengthy early delay following a serious injur to a Linfield player, the Blues took the lead and the Blefast side were 3-0 ahead by the break.

The score had moved to 5-0 before Carninywere rewarded when a good cross from Rhys O’Mullan resulted in a defender heading into his own net under pressure from Oran McManus.
